As we gear up for another incredible Pride celebration, we want to take a moment to address the overwhelming response we received for parade entries and vendor applications. We are truly touched by the enthusiasm and support from all corners of our diverse communities!
However, due to the unprecedented number of submissions, we faced the difficult task of making tough decisions regarding the selection process. Regrettably, not all entries could be accommodated in this year's parade lineup or vendor list.
We want to be transparent about our selection criteria: Our priority was to spotlight and uplift queer-focused organizations, businesses, and initiatives. While we recognize and celebrate the diversity within our community, we had to give preference to those whose missions align closely with the values of Pride and whose contributions directly support gender, sexuality, and relationship diverse (GSRD) people or causes.
Additionally, as we are not a large, corporate-funded Pride organization, this decision was not made lightly. We understand that it may be disappointing for those whose entries were not selected. Please know that your passion and commitment to celebrating Pride are deeply appreciated, and we encourage you to continue supporting the rainbow community in any way you can.
We remain committed to fostering a space that honours the rich tapestry of queer identities and experiences. Our goal is to create a parade and vendor fair that authentically represents the vibrant spectrum of our community while also amplifying queer voices and initiatives.
As we come together to celebrate love, acceptance, and equity, let us remember that Pride is about lifting each other up and standing in solidarity with one another. Together, we can continue to make strides towards a more inclusive and equitable world for all!
