Queerudition is a series of workshops on a variety of topics held on the last Friday of every other month.

About this Event

Queerudition is a series of free workshops held once every two months and put on by the Victoria Pride Society’s Youth Council. Each workshop is a different topic, from spiritual LGBTQ+ communities to baking to history of LGBTQ+ piercings! This event is organized by youth and for all ages.

This workshop will be held through an Instagram story on the @queerudition page. The video will be saved so everyone will be able to watch it after the initial release.

The workshop will be facilitated by Jennifer Gibson and Nick Sandor, who are both community educators at Island Sexual Health.

Join them on July 31st for a conversation about sexual health through the lens of a sexual health toolkit. You bring the questions and they will bring their sexual health education tools. Whether it is about bodies, relationships, or access to healthcare, they want to make sure that you have everything you need in your toolkit.

Workshop participants will guide the workshop through their questions and curiosities to cultivate the sharing of knowledge and experience from community members and sexual health educators. Jennifer and Nick will also be providing a virtual tour of Island Sexual Health to help you learn more about how to access their services.

Jennifer Gibson, most often referred to as “The Sex Lady” by youth participants, believes in making sexual health education relevant, accessible, and fun for all participants. She also believes that effective sexual health education combines factual information with humour and pop culture. Jennifer is passionate about creating space for every person to become comfortable with and knowledgeable about sexual health. These principles form the foundation for all of her work.

Nick Sandor is passionate about exploring education as an opportunity to encourage gender affirming practices through developing the skills required for wellness and community building. He believes that providing opportunities for people to share their stories and experiences is essential for fostering healthy relationships and self-expression.
