Victoria Pride Society is hiring an Assistant Festival Director for 2025!

The role of Assistant Festival director plays a crucial role in planning, organizing, and executing various aspects of our festival events. Their responsibilities can vary, and below you will find an overview of what is expected:

  • Work with the Festival Director (FD) to develop a comprehensive festival plan, including the layout, contractors and entertainment.
  • Assist the FD with keeping an up-to-date budget and keeping records of how funds are to be allocated accordingly.
  • Work with FD to provide key information for marketing with the Communications Team.
  • Be present at all events
  • Assist with event logistics such as set up, tear down and storage locker organization
  • Attend regular meetings with the Festival Team and Board
  • Provide updates on event deliverables in a timely manner
  • Assist with coordinating vendors and suppliers for logistical support, such as stages, tents, seating, lighting, sound equipment, and security
  • Assist with curating the festival lineup, including performers, artists, and speakers.
  • Assist with scheduling performances and activities throughout the festival.
  • Coordinate with artists and manage entertainer contracts.
  • Coordinate and communicate with Vendors including applications, approvals, site plan and day of management and point of contact for vendors onsite for events
  • Assist in managing festival staff and volunteers.
  • Assist in drafting contracts and agreements with vendors, performers, and partners.

The Victoria Pride Society provides opportunities for visibility, collaboration, conversations and celebration for gender, sexual and relationship diverse communities in Greater Victoria. We organize the annual Victoria Pride Parade and Festival events that attract over 100,000 people in the largest display of Pride on Vancouver Island.

Requirements 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as festival events will take place during these times.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift objects as required.
