About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Communications Coordinator to support the promotion and storytelling of a vibrant, community-focused festival. Reporting to the Communications Lead and Volunteer Lead, this role is ideal for someone interested in media, digital communications, and community engagement, with a passion for inclusive and creative storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and promoting festival events through strategic communications, social media engagement, and community outreach.
- Respond to media inquiries, coordinate interview requests, and help prepare media kits and press materials.
- Support content creation for digital platforms, including social media posts, newsletters, and website updates, ensuring messaging is consistent and inclusive.
- Coordinate with photographers, videographers, and other media partners during and after festival events.
- Collaborate with the Volunteer Lead on administrative tasks such as tracking volunteer communications, collecting volunteer information, and supporting post-event reporting and appreciation initiatives.
- Manage administrative duties for the Communications and Volunteer Teams, including organizing documents, maintaining communication calendars, and tracking campaign performance using digital tools.
- Assist in developing and executing audience engagement strategies to increase participation and visibility of festival programming.
- Contribute creative ideas for storytelling, public engagement, and initiatives that uplift the diversity of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
- Attend and support the team at all in-person events.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Interest in communications, marketing, media, or public relations.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital tools (e.g., Canva, Instagram, email marketing platforms) is an asset.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
- Passion for community engagement and inclusive storytelling, particularly within 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
