We’re Hiring a Bookkeeper

Contract Dates: November 2022 – October 2023

Job Type: Part-time contract with possibility for renewal

Compensation: $450-$500/month (approximately 20 hours) including taxes depends on experience, and double rate $900-$1000/ month in May, June and July (approximately 40 hours)

Description: The bookkeeper is a contract position working in accordance with mission, vision and values of the Victoria Pride Society (VPS). Accountable to the Treasurer, this role is responsible for the financial management of the day to day operations of the Society, including timely processing of accounts receivable and payable, monthly reconciliation and financial reports preparation. This position will be most busy during the May to July time period.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and complete bank deposits
  • Complete payable cheques and prepare for signature
  • Create and send invoices and payment receipts
  • Process accounts receivable and payable
  • Review invoices, code and input to the Sage 50 Accounting
  • Prepare and post standard month-end journal entries
  • Prepare and complete monthly bank reconciliation for review
  • Reconcile and prepare the monthly financial statements and notes
  • Calculate payroll source deductions and remit to CRA
  • Prepare and submit payroll related forms including T4, T4SUM, WCB report
  • Prepare and submit GST and PST tax returns
  • File and organize financial documents
  • Assist Treasurer in preparation of fiscal year-end works including inventory valuation
  • Provide input to the board for annual budget preparation
  • Other bookkeeping duties as required

Requirements:

The successful candidate should possess a diverse skill set that includes:

  • Basic Bookkeeping Diploma
  • 2-3 year of bookkeeping and/or payroll administration experience
  • Experience using Sage 50 Accounting software and maintain a sound knowledge of it
  • Experience working within a budget and tracking expenses
  • Communicate effectively by phone, in-person and in-writing
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be organized and maintain confidentiality
