Join Our Team – Merchandise Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Director

Time Commitment: 15-20 hours/month or more in the lead up to Pride and during the Victoria Pride Festival.

Purpose: The Merchandise Coordinator(s) oversees Victoria Pride’s merchandise activities. Collaborating with the Executive Director and others on the Victoria Pride Festival team, this position oversees the planning, ordering, receiving and selling of Victoria Pride’s 2SLGBTQAI+ themed merchandise at the Memorial Drag Ball Game, the Big Gay Dog Walk and the Victoria Pride Festival Finale.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend Festival Committee meetings once a month or as needed.
  • Plan, research and propose suitable merchandise that aligns with the values of VPS and Pride.
  • Order and oversee receiving merchandise within the approved budget.
  • Organize items in the storage locker and maintain an inventory.
  • Plan and oversee the transport and set up of the merchandise tent and merchandise items at three signature Pride events – the Memorial Drag Ball Game, the Big Gay Dog Walk and the Victoria Pride Festival Finale.
  • Manage merchandise volunteers and sales during Victoria Pride Festival events.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience ordering and selling merchandise. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with and motivate volunteers.
  • Familiarity with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. 
  • Proactive communication.
  • High organization and attention to detail.
  • Cultural sensitivity.

Preference may be given for:

  • Experience working for positive change within 2SLGBTQIA+ communities or equity deserving communities.
  • First Aid and Serving it Right Certificates.
  • Applicants that are 2SLGBTQAI+.
  • Applicants that are Indigenous, Black or otherwise racialized.
  • Applicants with a disability.
