Contract Dates: November 2022 – July 2023
Job Type: Part-time contract with possibility for renewal
Compensation: $25-$30 per hour depending on experience.
Estimated contract hours: 20-30 hours/month and up to 40 hours or more a month in May, June and July.

Description: The Parade Coordinator oversees the successful planning and delivery of the Victoria Pride Parade. Accountable to the Festival Manager, the Parade Manager will ensure a smooth parade experience for all involved and be the main point of contact for the Pride Parade.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit for and Chair Pride Parade Committee.
- Develop and lead parade application, vetting, approval and invoicing processes.
- Ensure all necessary permits are secured and sites reserved.
- Collect proposals and book equipment and/or labour from suppliers or contractors.
- Respond to all parade related inquiries.
- Oversee marshaling and dismantling of Pride Parade.
- Set parade order and communicate all instructions and expectations with all approved parade entries.
- In collaboration with Volunteer Manager, define volunteer positions and shifts.
- Assist with post-event reporting.
While the Parade Coordinator is expected to be self-motivated and independent, VPS operates as a cohesive team and the successful applicant is expected to collaborate with team members as necessary and embody our work culture that embraces kindness, respect, integrity and love.
Requirements:
The successful candidate should possess a diverse skill set that includes:
- 1 year of experience in an events related role or certification in event management.
- Experience managing teams of staff and volunteers.
- Experience working within a budget and tracking expenses.
- Skilled in project management, event planning and meeting critical deadlines.
- Ability to keep calm in high-stress situations.
- Flexibility to work weekends and events as required.
