Sugar We’re Goin’ Dancing: A Youth Pride Dance

We are grateful to hold this event on W̱SÁNEĆ Territories as uninvited settlers. Upholding the sovereignty of the Indigenous peoples whose lands we occupy should be at the heart of all Pride organizing

Calling all gays, theys and everyone in between – welcome to the black parade and get ready to panic at the disco!

We are happy to invite you to Sugar, We’re Goin’ Dancing – a Youth Pride dance!

This is a FREE event open to anyone 13-18 who identifies as LGBT+, queer, 2-Spirit or an ally

This dance will be a safer space where you can come with whoever you want, wear whatever you want and be whoever you want to be! This is an event that celebrates diversity – all genders and sexual/romantic orientations totally welcome!

WHAT TO EXPECT:
– amazing music and dancing
– cool photo opportunities
– food and drinks!
– an edgy emo atmosphere (just like you always wanted!)
– a quiet/chill outdoor area if you need a break from the music
– Pride awesomeness for you and your friends!

This is a substance-free event. Please help us make sure we can continue to offer these awesome youth dances for years to come!

Accessibility Information:

Commonwealth Pool is located at 4636 Elk Lake Drive. We are approximately two blocks from the Royal Oak Exchange, which is accessible by bus on the #6, #30, #32, #39, #72 and #75 bus routes.

The Upside Teen Center is on the east side of the building, around the corner to the right from the front entrance of Commonwealth Pool. There are no stairs leading to the teen center

There is a designated HandyDart loading zone as well as a covered entrance

We will have bus tickets available at the dance, as well as snack food and drinks
.
There will be loud music and dim lighting (no strobe lights) in the dance, but we will also have a quiet outdoor area available

There are 2 single stall gender inclusive washrooms in the teen center.
