Victoria, BC – Victoria Pride Society is disheartened to learn that For the Love of Drag’s all ages drag show has been cancelled following multiple threats. 

Despite the strides we’ve made as a community, the longstanding history of violence, discrimination and hate against 2SLGBTQIA+ communities endures even today. We ask our allies to continue speaking up and out against hate, to exist with a zero-tolerance policy against discrimination, educate themselves and the people around them, and uplift and empower equity-seeking voices. 

The Victoria Pride Society (VPS) stands in solidarity with all those impacted by this senseless outpouring of hate, and against hate, violence and discrimination of any kind. The safety of our communities is our first priority and we have been in conversation with Victoria Police, our event security provider Elite Security, and all of our crew and volunteer leads to make sure precautions are in place to ensure the safety of everyone at our upcoming events.

VPS stands firm with its zero tolerance of hate, violence and discrimination, and our celebrations will go on with the support of our communities and allies.
